Skincare as Art

Each season, OUMERE presents a new edition not to follow trends, but to affirm a principle: that skincare, like art, is creation. This September, I am joined by the painter Cédric Rivrain, whose work, like OUMERE, is intimate, precise, and resistant to imitation.

Cédric is known for his singular portraiture: faces that are both delicate and unflinching, rendered with the kind of honesty that can only come from a lifetime of looking closely. He has painted the world’s most compelling figures, yet his approach remains exclusive, personal, never mass-produced. In this, his practice mirrors my own. OUMERE is couture skincare: made by hand, designed for the individual, never industrialized.

Cédric came to OUMERE not out of vanity, but necessity. In his studio, immersed in chemicals, pigments, solvents, his skin endured the cost of his craft. He turned to my formulations as restoration: an artist seeking healing through another artist’s medium. This alignment matters: skincare not as surface, but as preservation of the self that creates.

This September Edition highlights that philosophy in its purest form:

  • No. 9 — a formulation whose separation of oils reveals its individuality, ingredients kept distinct to preserve their integrity. It is skincare that shows its truth, as an artist shows his hand.

  • Serum Bioluminelle — a deep emerald green, drawn from the purity of carrot seed oil. It is the science of color as much as it is the science of anti-aging.

  • UV-R — a potent amber, saturated with broccoli sprout extract, a natural shield against environmental damage, as rich in hue as it is in efficacy.

Like Cédric’s portraits, each creation is both rare and lasting. There is no duplication: only a continuous evolution, a narrative of growth that refuses to be compromised.

This is skincare as art, and art as preservation.
