OUMERE Library - Research and Methods

OUMERE Laboratory

Research & Methods — The Biology Behind OUMERE

OUMERE is led by Wendy, M.S. in Cellular Biology, with additional study in physics and mathematics at Stanford University. Her academic work includes published research on ovarian development in the black widow spider, and side projects in wound healing and anti-aging biology. Today, that rigor powers a private Palm Beach laboratory focused on cosmetic science: disciplined formulation, microscopy, ingredient testing, and transparent methods.

Scientific Foundation

Graduate field: Cellular Biology (M.S.). Independent study in physics and mathematics at Stanford (distinct from biology work).

Primary research: Ovarian development in the black widow spider — characterizing pre-vitellogenic stages that precede egg formation.

Secondary focus: Biological basis of wound healing; exploratory work on natural ingredients and anti-aging biology as they relate to visible skin quality.

Publication: Journal of Invertebrate Biology.

Cellular signaling Tissue formation Barrier biology Oxidative balance

Laboratory Methods & Instrumentation

Microscopy & imaging: Electron microscopy, light microscopy.

Histology: Tissue preservation, embedding, staining (incl. Mallory trichrome).

Molecular techniques: Western blots, PCR.

Product testing: Ingredient screening, stability checks (light/heat), phase behavior, texture & layering trials, ex vivo observations on human skin samples.

Internal Studies & Observations

No. 9 (AHA/PHA) — Renewal & Comfort Balance

Ongoing | Ex vivo & observational

Evaluating how calibrated lactic, mandelic, and PHA levels support a smoother-looking surface while respecting comfort. Focus on appearance of hydration, evenness, and clean layering with morning serums.

Microneedling — Aging Dynamics

Ongoing literature review & lab perspective

Biology-first assessment of cumulative stress vs. visible benefit. Investigating whether repeated disruption trends toward a more aged appearance over time compared with measured topical renewal.

Peptides vs. Retinoids — Nightly Renewal Strategy

Ongoing | Ex vivo & routine performance

Comparing visible tone/texture support and user comfort from peptide-dense formulations versus traditional retinoids. Prioritizes smooth layering, barrier respect, and predictable night results.

Hyaluronic Acid — Water Binding & TEWL

Ongoing | Ex vivo

Examining practical water binding claims and the relationship between certain HA systems and the appearance of surface dryness/TEWL when not balanced with lipids and antioxidants.

No. 9 — Microscopy Over Time

Completed internal observation

Microscopic observations of human skin samples suggest improved hydration appearance and a reduction in the look of fine surface lines with disciplined use, alongside clean serum layering.

Note: These are cosmetic research observations focused on visible aesthetics and user comfort. Individual results vary.

Our Research Framework

Biology-first: Begin with cell signaling & tissue behavior; formulate to respect barrier and renewal rhythms.

Minimalist chemistry: Prioritize bioavailable plant extracts, stabilized peptides, and non-oxidizing lipids. Avoid unnecessary perfume and heavy occlusives.

Predictable layering: Every formula must play cleanly with the rest of the system, AM and PM.

Small-batch control: Composed in limited cycles for consistency over mass production.
